You’re going to love the live music on offer at the festival with two stages playing from start to finish.
We’ll be featuring local talent playing the covers that you know and love. You’ll find yourself tapping your toes as you seek out what you’ll indulge in next. Keep an eye out for the other entertainers – they’ll turn up when you least expect them.
AutoMatic 80s is New Zealand’s leading live 80s experience and we are thrilled to announce we’ll have them on stage at this years Oceans Festival.
AutoMatic 80s delivers the smash hits of this unforgettable and exciting musical era. From bands like Human League, Simple Minds, Duran Duran, Blondie, Culture Club through to artists like Kate Bush and Robert Palmer, AutoMatic 80s performances will transport you back to those heady, youthful times and leave you wanting more.
Automatic 80s is a world class group of musicians featuring the astonishing sound alike vocals and high energy stage antics of front man Justin Maclaren, backed up by the pitch perfect Pearl Runga (sister to Boh & Bic), drummer Jayden Lee (Alae and session muso), lead guitarist Ryan Wood (Session musician), bassist Todd Rice, (Session musician).
We welcome Vegas Brown to the stage again at this year’s festival. Vegas is a gold selling recording artist and a veteran entertainer of 30 years. He and his band have become part of the ethos of the Oceans festival. The high energy these guys bring is the perfect crescendo for the day so get ready to sing some anthems and dance the afternoon off at the Festival.
On stage there are eight other bands, so we are jam packed from start to finish with great music across our two stages. There’s music for everyone whether it’s chilling out at the acoustic stage or dancing at the main stage.
Adding to the line up of great music, we add Sean O’Hooligan. Sean comes from Celtic rock band Hair of the Dog. His acoustic hard strumming folk/rock performance will be enhanced with the addition of a Celtic fiddler that you’ll love.
TJ. Looper King
We welcome to the acoustic stage TJ. Looper King, or The Human Jukebox are two ways to describe TJ.
Whether it’s a sit down restaurant show or tearing it up on Saturday nights on The Strand, in Tauranga this guy can do it all. TJ will be lighting up the acoustic stage with his guitar and looper in hand.
POW WOW is English born singer/guitarist Josh Pow and Tauranga homegrown drummer Nick Ririnui. This dynamic duo remix and reimagine all your favourite hits from the 70s/80s/90s to modern day.
The boys have a unbelievably huge sound for a two piece that keeps the dance floor pumping. Enjoy a unique set filled with twists and turns that you most likely have never been heard before!
Let’s Go Descarrego
Let’s Go Descarrego! is a pairing of two well known local musicians, Stewart Pedley and Leo Magri. Their vibrant music draws influence from the long traditions of folk storytelling, Rhythm & Blues, Brazilian percussion, and the New Orleans sound. Through the energetic merging of voices, percussion and guitar, Let’s Go Descarrego! tell tales of intriguing incidents, crafty characters, and loves long lost, while feet tap and folks find themselves looking for the dance floor.
Returning to Whitianga by popular demand! The Man with the fitting tribute and dexterous dedication to the legendary hairstyle.
Fifteen years at the WORLD BUSKERS FESTIVAL and seven years at the famous EDINBURGH FESTIVAL, MulletMan has performed at hundreds of festivals in and around NZ, Australia, South East Asia, the Middle East and the United Kingdom. The trade is entertainment, but the expertise is hair conditioning.

The main stage will feature our larger bands who will spread out and make some noise – this is the one to go and rock out at.
If you just want to chill out and listen to some great live music check out the acoustic stage.
Keep an eye on where you walk and don’t forget to look up because you may just ‘bump’ into our talented entertainers around the venue. Look out for still life artists, stilt walkers and other surprises.
