We’re excited to present a fabulous line up of talented entertainers this year.

You’re going to love the live music on offer at the festival with two stages playing from start to finish.

On stage this year will be several bands, so we are jam packed from start to finish with great music across our two stages. There’s music for everyone whether it’s chilling out at the acoustic stage or dancing at the main stage.

AutoMatic 80s

White Chapel Jak

Crowd favourites, White Chapel Jak nail ballads through to bangers that span decades of hits and have everyone dancing, the bands’ playlist is now peppered with their original music, to create high-energy shows.

The band are no strangers to the Coromandel region, previously playing at the former Whitianga Scallop Festival, The Coroglen Tavern and where due to play at the 2022 Whitianga Summer Concert. Known to get the crowd up and dancing, lead singer Bonnie Hurunui has a powerhouse voice and charisma that gets everyone moving! Partnered with the rest of the band, White Chapel Jak create an atmosphere like no other, and in a location like the Whitianga Oceans Festival, you won’t want to be anywhere else. You can’t help but fall in love with White Chapel Jak and all the energy, fun and love they bring to every show – time to grab your mates and make a day of it.

Vegas Brown

We welcome Vegas Brown to the stage again at this year’s festival. Vegas is a gold selling recording artist and a veteran entertainer of 30 years. He and his band have become part of the ethos of the Oceans festival. The high energy these guys bring is the perfect crescendo for the day so get ready to sing some anthems and dance the afternoon off at the Festival.

Let’s Go Descarrego

Let’s Go Descarrego

Let’s Go Descarrego! is a pairing of two well known local musicians, Stewart Pedley and Leo Magri. Their vibrant music draws influence from the long traditions of folk storytelling, Rhythm & Blues, Brazilian percussion, and the New Orleans sound. Through the energetic merging of voices, percussion and guitar, Let’s Go Descarrego! tell tales of intriguing incidents, crafty characters, and loves long lost, while feet tap and folks find themselves looking for the dance floor.

Mullet Man

Returning to Whitianga by popular demand! The Man with the fitting tribute and dexterous dedication to the legendary hairstyle.

Fifteen years at the WORLD BUSKERS FESTIVAL and seven years at the famous EDINBURGH FESTIVAL, MulletMan has performed at hundreds of festivals in and around NZ, Australia, South East Asia, the Middle East and the United Kingdom. The trade is entertainment, but the expertise is hair conditioning.

Bringing you the biggest dance and singalong hits of the 80’s to the 2023 Whitianga Oceans Festival music stage is our second band announcement – Frisky Business!

This popular NZ covers band will get you up, out of your seat and dancing to some of the best 80’s hits!

Scotty Stone will have you both relaxed and entertained at the same time with his smooth blend of acoustic guitar, looping and crisp vocals that he brings to his solo performances.

Phillip Hart is a well know, coromandel musician. Combining years of musical talent, Phil will be playing some all time favourites and classics.

Classic beats

The main stage will feature our larger bands who will spread out and make some noise – this is the one to go and rock out at.

If you just want to chill out and listen to some great live music check out the acoustic stage. 

Talented entertainers

Keep an eye on where you walk and don’t forget to look up because you may just ‘bump’ into our talented entertainers around the venue. Look out for still life artists, stilt walkers and other surprises.
