It is with great disappointment that we, Whitianga Oceans Festival Committee, have made the difficult decision that the Whitianga Oceans Festival will not go ahead in September 2022 as was planned. The much anticipated 2021 Festival was cancelled just 2 weeks out due to Covid-19 lockdowns.
We had hoped that 2022 would be easier to navigate from an event perspective, but the variant Omicron poses additional risks to the festival as the Government can change traffic light levels with just 24-48 hours’ notice. We are unable to deliver the event at the red setting which only allows for groups of 100. The Whitianga Oceans Festival takes many months to organise and we cannot take the risk or cost of another cancelled event.
We know that so many of you look forward to the annual Spring getaway in the beautiful Coromandel and we understand and share your disappointment.
The festival involves many Coromandel community groups who provide much of the music, people power and food stalls that make the Festival a truly home grown experience.
In accordance with the terms and conditions of sale, these tickets were non-refundable. The Event incurred significant costs prior to the proposed date that, due to the late nature of needing to cancel, were unrecoverable. However, we are pleased to still be able to offer a partial refund to all ticket holders at a rate of $30 per ticket. This will be refunded back onto the credit card that was used to purchase your ticket.
All ticket holders will be contacted over the coming week.
Please contact us directly if you are currently experiencing financial hardship brought about by Covid-19 by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you for your understanding during these difficult times, we will now aim to bring you a fresh and fun Whitianga Oceans Festival in September 2023.
